KEEP YOUR DRINK POLAR COLD.
The Bear likes to travel. He goes to the mountains and he goes to the beach. He loves a good road trip, too. On a bike or in a backpack, the Bear keeps his cool. So take him with you and keep your drink polar cold.
Not only are Polar Bottles great for keeping your drinks polar cold, they are safe and eco-friendly!
Every day, in the US we throw away more than 40 million plastic water bottles. It takes about 55,000 barrels of oil to make all these bottles. That amount of oil could fuel 680,000 number of cars and puts about 10,000 tons of C02 into the atmosphere every day.* Polar Bottles are reusable so you can do your part to reduce waste and your personal carbon footprint!
And when your Polar Bottle has finally worn out, it's recyclable! (they are made of LDPE, or plastic #4, which is fully recyclable -- only the valves and the foil liner are not)
And unlike other bottles, Polar Bottles are BPA-free, do not leach chemicals and are FDA approved. So Go Green and stay healthy with Polar Bottle!
*calculations derived from EPA and EIA data.
Where are Polar Bottles made?
Polar Bottles are proudly designed, manufactured and distributed in Boulder, Colorado; Made in the USA!
Are Polar Bottles "green" and recyclable?
Polar Bottles are made of LDPE, low density polyethylene, plastic #4 and they are recyclable. Please remove the foil lining. They are green and sustainable in that they are reusable, recyclable, refillable, Made in the USA (no long distance transport needed), durable and manufactured by energy efficient means. The caps are recyclable as well, but please remove the valve.
What number plastic are Polar Bottles made of?
Polar Bottles are made of LDPE, low density polyethylene, plastic #4, and do not contain BP-A. Plastic #4 is recyclable
What is BP-A?
Polar Bottle® uses LDPE specifically because it does not contain BP-A. Bisphenol A is a xenoestrogen, an endocrine disruptor that affects hormonal messaging in the body by imitating or enhancing the effect of estrogens. For more information on BP-A, you may wish to explore the green guide, or the environmental magazine.
How long does it keep liquids cool?
Liquids stay cool twice as long as liquids in regular un-insulated, single layer plastic bottles. Just how long it stays cool depends on the temperature and amount of liquid and/or ice in the bottle, the temperature outside and the duration of use.
How do I clean my Polar Bottle®?
You can safely clean Polar Bottles in the dishwasher by placing them away from the heating element. Polar Bottles can also be hand washed using dish liquid or baking soda. The large mouth provides access to the interior of the bottle for ease of cleaning. The valve can be removed with a simple twist and pull for thorough cleaning and to prevent the build-up of bacteria.
What about odors or plastic tastes?
Everyone has their own level of sensitivity to tastes and odors. For the most part, simply washing the bottle and valve will solve the problem. The same is true for any discoloration from using sports drinks or additions to water in the bottle.
Can you freeze your Polar Bottle®?
You can freeze your Polar Bottle®. Partially fill the bottle, freeze it and then add more liquid for best results.
Can you put hot liquids in it?
Although people do put hot liquids in our bottles, they were not designed for it and we do not recommend doing so. You would not want to squeeze an extremely hot liquid into your mouth. The bottle's insulating factor will keep liquids warm during Winter hiking or skiing and the liquid in the bottle will not freeze as quickly when used outside during cold weather.
Are the caps replaceable with other tops?
Polar Bottle® has a standard 63mm diameter mouth to accommodate other types of bottle tops or filters. If you have any problem with a Polar Bottle® cap, please call us and we will replace it.
Is the carrying loop removable?
The removable carrying strap lets you literally "Take the Bear Everywhere". You can easily pull it off when you remove the cap if you choose to.
